I visited the Read Write Think website and I think we can use it with our students. For example, in English V, Unit Six: "Plans for the future", you can find a lesson called: A Poem of Possibilities: Thinking about the Future. It has many resources such as pre-writing questions, questions for reflection, a printing press in which they can make their newspaper to write there what will they be doing in 5 or 10 years from now. The site is in: http://www.readwritethink.org/lessons/lesson_view.asp?id=943#standards
The other one I liked was a lesson called "Exploring and Sharing Family Stories", in which, after choosing a family member to interview, students create questions, interview their relatives, and write a personal narrative that describes not only the answers to their questions but their own reactions to these responses. These narratives are peer reviewed and can be published as a class magazine or website. I think this lesson will help to understand and review English IV, Unit Five, "To describe routines and preferences". It also has many resources like a worksheet contains basic questions, history questions so they can interview their family and write about that. The site is:
